Microbial contamination is invisible, which makes swab testing something of a guess. You know the surface should be tested; you do not know which part of it is actually dirty. The Bio UVision lamp answers that question directly — shine it across a surface and bacteria, biofilms, fungi and product residues fluoresce, revealing where contamination is and how severe it is.
Certain substances that microorganisms produce or absorb fluoresce under UV-A light. The Bio UVision works by pulsing continuously between different ultraviolet wavelengths; without that pulsing, detecting bacteria and biofilms with the naked eye is not possible. Different contaminants fluoresce in different colours, so the lamp indicates the type of contamination as well as its extent.
It pairs naturally with ATP testing rather than replacing it. Use the lamp to find where the problem is, then take a targeted swab — which makes the testing programme both faster and considerably cheaper than swabbing blind.

The lamp is used anywhere hygiene matters and contamination is hard to see:

Ultraviolet light occurs naturally in sunlight across a range of wavelengths, and UV lamps emit different types depending on their purpose.
UV-A and UV-B lamps are used for detection, inspection, curing, insect control and similar applications. The Bio UVision is a detection lamp and works in this range.
UV-C lamps are a different thing entirely — those are disinfection lamps, used to treat surfaces, water and air without chemicals. A detection lamp does not disinfect, and a disinfection lamp does not detect.
